Information to Immersion
Rooted in the philosophy of the Kominka Method™, this experience is designed to help guests reconnect with themselves through the timeless wisdom of Japanese culture—where space, ritual, beauty, and hospitality become pathways to clarity, peace, and inner alignment.
More than a dinner or cultural activity, the Kominka Experience is an immersive encounter with a way of living that honors attention, simplicity, and meaning.
Through traditional cuisine, ceremonial practice, and intentional atmosphere, guests are guided into a deeper relationship with themselves, with others, and with the moment.
What Is Zen House Kominka
Zen House Kominka is a lovingly restored traditional Japanese farmhouse, originally crafted in Japan more than a century ago and carefully reassembled in Wallowa County, Oregon.
Surrounded by mountains, open skies, and the quiet beauty of nature, it offers a rare opportunity to experience the craftsmanship, serenity, and timeless elegance of rural Japanese living in an immersive and meaningful way.

What Is the Kominka Experience
Inspired by the spirit of traditional Japanese living, the Kominka Experience brings together curated hospitality, cultural immersion, and reflective practice in a setting designed to calm the mind and awaken the senses.
Each experience is shaped around the principles at the heart of Kiyomi Koike’s work: clarity, structure, and transformation.
Guests are invited not simply to observe Japanese tradition, but to experience its deeper wisdom through form, rhythm, ritual, and presence.
Integrated Tea Ceremony
Guests are guided through an integrated tea ceremony experience, where they are introduced to the history, meaning, and Zen principles behind the ritual.
More than a performance, the tea ceremony becomes a living lesson in mindfulness, humility, grace, and intentional attention.
Optional Kimono Experience
For female guests, kimono wearing is available as an optional add-on for an additional cost.

Traditional Japanese Dinner
At the heart of the experience is a kaiseki-style multi-course dinner, prepared with seasonality, balance, beauty, and intention in mind.
Each course invites guests to slow down, savor fully, and receive food not only as nourishment, but as a practice of awareness and appreciation.

The Philosophy Behind the Experience
The Kominka Experience reflects a central belief of the Kominka Method™: that transformation begins with how we shape the mind, the space around us, and the experiences we fully enter.
Modern life often leaves us disconnected from ritual, beauty, and intentional structure. We move quickly, consume unconsciously, and rarely pause long enough to truly receive.
Japanese tradition offers another way.
Through thoughtful design, ceremonial awareness, and intentional hospitality, this experience helps guests remember what modern life so often obscures: that peace can be practiced, presence can be cultivated, and meaning can be found in the smallest details.
